In 2010 when I was living in Valdosta, GA I met the Martin family and was able to photograph them in a very cool (and very yellow) urban setting (one of my favorites in downtown Valdosta). See those family photographs by clicking here!
And now, nine years later, we meet again amidst the saguaros and sunsets of the desert. The difference? Well, I think they look the same, despite the years, except for Matthew, who is all grown up and ready to graduate high school!
This combination family portrait and senior portrait showcased the best of everything – from the rocks to the cactus. I so much enjoyed working with them again! And the best feedback I could ask for? “Matthew never smiles like that. I can’t believe you got real smiles out of him!”. Music to my ears because, no, it’s not always easy getting a teenage boy to actually be happy for photos! I found Matthew to be easy to work with, and his smile naturally showed up within moments. Love love love these photographs and I know they did, too.
