I met Elyssa when I first moved to Valdosta and she was a sophomore at Lowndes high school where I was teaching an 8 week course for students interested in photography. She is an incredibly talented artist and photographer and is going to be attending SCAD in the fall! I think she was winking at me! When is the best time to take newborn photos? Honestly, when the baby *and you* are ready. I always recommend it within the first 2 weeks of life, but so many factors affect this decision. Bottom line, schedule it when you have the chance, but also while you have the chance - and don`t worry about the perfect timeline. What matters is that we get those photos (they`ll be one before you know it!).

I always love a good father-son photo. I do get the question a lot, "Should parents be in the newborn photos?" and my answer is always yes, if you`re comfortable. I think capturing the moments with the parents - together and individually - makes for a very special capture that you`ll have as a memory for years to come.
