I love dinner parties. The conversation. The food. The unique mixing of personalities. I love being the hostess, running around making sure everyone has something, watching people enjoy, connect, eat. And I especially love when day turns to dusk and the guests linger over dessert, when the cognac, pipes and cigars come out and the warm timbre of male voices, broken occasionally by the giggle of a child or the laughter of a woman, rise into the night on a fragrant cloud of smoke.
