Mt Lemmon family photos in the morning? Yes, it’s the perfect time. Especially in the summer when, bonus, it’s cooler AND it’s not a super early start (compared to the desert). It’s totally worth the short drive (about 15 minutes) to this (and other) great locations on the mountain! It is super green in the summer and doesn’t even look like Tucson, for those who want their Tucson family photos to not look like Tucson! Mt Lemmon family photos are great also because it tends to be very quiet, especially in the mornings, and I have lots of secret locations I like to work from.
Typically I suggest meeting at the base of Mt Lemmon and then you can follow me to the starting point. And that way we don’t get separated since there’s no reliable cell service once you start up the mountain. Mt Lemmon is a great destination for visitors to Tucson, and I always recommend it for hiking, the views, the drive, and the cooler temps in the summer, but I think it’s also amazing for family photos, maternity photos (in this session she was barely expecting her second but we still did a few “hint of baby coming” pics), senior pictures, children’s photos and so much more. If you are craving Pine trees, Mt Lemmon family photos can include that. But also rocks, greenspace, high desert, and sometimes even water. And in the fall we also get some fall color, as this session did! It’s all about timing, and about being willing to go the distance for those unique family photos. Windy point is a fan fav, and I highly recommend a stop there for sunset. But in the summer, get up early, drive alllll the way to the top, and go for a hike. You’ll be glad you did!
